All about Aussiedoodles
Aussiedoodles are a cross between an Australian Shephard and Standard Poodle. This breed is extremely loving and energetic!
The Australian Shepherd came to the United States from Australia and was bred for use as a herding dog. They became more well-known and popular in the 1950s when they were seen in movies and rodeos.
The Poodle is said to have gotten its origin in France, although some believe they came from Asia. They were widely used as water dogs and duck hunters in France. Both breeds have been used as guide dogs, therapy dogs, drug detection dog, and search and rescue dog.
Temperament
Aussiedoodles are a very intelligent breed with a sweet disposition. Their intelligence and trainability come from both the Australian Shephard and Standard Poodle's intelligence.
Aussiedoodles are very devoted to their family members, and this devotion makes them excellent family dogs.
Aussiedoodles do come from the Australian Shepherd breed, which are historically herding dogs. It is not uncommon for your Aussiedoodle to try to instinctually herd the family around. For this reason, early socialization and training should be started at a young age.
Physical Traits
The Aussidoodle breed is a medium/average size dog which can weigh anywhere from 30-50 pounds depending on the size of the Dam and Sire.
The breeds coat can be straight, wavy, or curly depending on the generation and parents used. Straighter coats are more prone to shedding, however the F1B line is considered the recommended choice for families with mild pet allergies. This line has no to minimal shedding.
Frequent brushing and regular grooming appointments will keep your dogs coat healthy and minimize shedding.

You might notice that the Aussiedoodle may have either brown, green, or blue eyes!
All of our Aussiedoodle tails are left natural, just the way God intended.
Based on vet recommendation, dew claws are not removed as this is unnecessary for most pets.
Activity and Training
Aussiedoodles require exercise and mental stimulation to avoid boredom and the trouble it can cause. Aussiedoodles enjoy running, playing, swimming, and make excellent buddies to hike and explore with.
The Aussiedoodle breed will do well in any living situation as long as their needs are met!
Early socialization and training is recommended in order to raise a dog that your family will enjoy.
Aussiedoodles do well with praise and rewards for good behavior. They are very smart and eager to please. You must be firm yet patient with your new dog and they will grow to be a loving member of the family.
We do recommend crate training your new puppy. Crate training is an excellent way to prevent destruction in your home and to provide a place of their own. Most dogs will enjoy time spent in their crate if properly trained.

Food and Nutrition
Aussiedoodles should be receiving a diet of high-quality dog food. Your veterinarian is an excellent person to seek guidance on the appropriate food source for your new puppy.
At Dandy Lane Doodles, we feed our own dogs a homemade balanced meal. Our puppies are on a high-quality puppy kibble. Your take home package will contain a small puppy food to take home.
